Hotel Lucia
Hotel Lucia
Portland Oregon’s Hotel Lucia is home to the world’s largest permanent collection of Kennerly’s black-and-white photographs, featuring 680 of his photographs on display throughout its public spaces, corridors and guest rooms. The hotel’s lobby features a specially curated set that captures milestone moments in international history and popular culture. Hallways and guest rooms display a diverse array of images, ranging from John McCain campaigning for President, to Jerry and Kramer landing up in prison on the last episode of Seinfeld, and Kennerly’s celebrated shot of First Lady Betty Ford dancing on the Cabinet Room table the day before departing the White House at the end of the Ford administration.
The New York Times put the Lucia on the map after its 2002 rave review which cited the hotel’s innovative use of Kennerly’s photos. For nearly two decades, this eclectic Kennerly installation has remained an important draw for the hotel.
